Autumn Portraits (Northville, MI Photographer)
October 12, 2011 My Life, Special Promotions
Autumn is my favorite time of year….. this morning I had a chance to sneak out before the sun came up. I headed to a couple of local park areas and waited for the light to come. There was a bit of foggy mist but the overcast skies really brought out the warm saturated colors in the trees and grasses. Have a look at an image I captured:
Here is another spot near my home

I also adore old barns…. which I just happened to pass by on my way to the park this morning. Here is one of the shots. Oh, and I added a bit of grunge texture to give an artsy effect here.

Just thought it would be fun to share something other than portraits here… for once. LOL!!! Don’t worry though, those are coming very soon. I have lots of new stuff to share very soon!
If you’re local and wanting a portrait session… kids, couples, families, high school seniors, etc… email me soon (jenlynnalder@gmail.com). You still have a couple weeks with amazing Autumn color left.
Happy April (Detroit, MI Child Photographer)
April 3, 2011 Kids, Lessons & Workshops, My Life
On April Fool’s Day my niece and nephew had the day off from school. I had a great time with them. We went to the movies and out to lunch. The boys played video games for a bit while Melanie and I went shopping and made a little time for photo taking. It had been awhile! LOL! Here are a couple from our little play date:

We look forward to seeing you guys in a couple weeks at the workshop!
Stay tuned… i have a model post and newborn shoot on my agenda. And, if I haven’t mentioned it, I am SUPER excited for the warm weather and longer days ahead of us. I have a ton of fabulous sessions coming up!
Back from VEGAS! (Las Vegas, Model Photography)
February 28, 2011 My Life, Senior Portraits & Models
So, I am back from Las Vegas, which is where I spent 9 days last month. It was actually the first time I visited the city when the temperatures weren’t scorching high. Usually I pack sundresses and sandals but not this time. LOL!!! Jeans and hoodies were my best friends on this trip. Does dressing comfortable mean I am getting old? Uh oh. Well, old or young, I will say the 60 degree temperatures were lovely in comparison to the high 20′s that I left behind. The warmer days of Spring are definitely something I am looking forward to very soon.
( i shot this image from my hotel room- through glass, hand held, so pardon the low quality)
While I was in town, I met up with some great local talent- a couple of models and great make up artists for what turned out to be lots of fun. I haven’t had a chance to do a lot of image editing from these sessions quite yet but here is a peek at what we were up to:
the incredibly beautiful Alina…

And the handsome, DK. Yes?

I will share more of these sessions in a future post! Thanks for stopping by.
Wow- February 14th is here again. Happy Valentine’s Day to all
I was going to do a post today that shared a few images from a recent Senior Portrait shoot I did but (instead) have decided to show you a handful of different images. These are not client images. In fact, they are simple snapshots- but they have meaning to me as famliy photos. It is rare for me to put up personal posts on my blog but I am going to try to do so a little more frequently. Once a week I teach preschool to my niece and she is so so so super cute. This was a last minute project she did with hearts (stuck in a box) which I think is sort of appropriate for today.

Of course that is not all she made! Anything with art and building is her favorite. We had out paints, a sketch pad with markers and play-doh but my camera was put away. LOL!!! Call me crazy but I like my camera body black- not covered in green, red, blue and white fingerprints. We also use blocks a lot during our time together to study shapes, colors, counting, etc…

There is no way possible I could get away with skipping story time- she adores Eric Carle. I read her three different stories a million times over, and then she reads what she remembers back to me.

After she has her own snack time she enjoys feeding the money to Mr. Piggy- and works on coin recognition + counting…

My cat does not have the option of being alone when my niece is around. LOL!! I think if she lived here full time he would stay under my bed all day. She talks to him about her newly painted nails and the snow outside. We also spend some time discussing parts of his body (like whiskers and tail) and comparing him to other animals.

And last but not least- she insists on posing for me. awwwwww. I think she learned this pose from her big sister, Tiffany. Oh, and trust me, I am lucky she wanted her photo taken. Every time she comes over she tells me to bring up her photos online (one by one). Seeing her own image makes her feel special and my stash of recently taken ones was nearly empty. Whew! At least I got a few more. A couple of weeks ago she actually moved an image out of my office and on to our refrigerator so that more people could see it. hahaha!

I am having a great time this year (so far) working with Chelsea. Can’t wait until next time. Thanks for stopping by everyone.
Whats next? I’ll try to get some Senior portraits tomorrow. stay tuned.
