Emma’s Day (Farmington, Michigan, Senior Portrait Photography)

May 19, 2010 · Senior Portraits & Models, Special Promotions

Emma is one of my Senior Reps this year.  Lucky me. She is a beautiful person- inside and out- who totally rocked our session together on Friday.  I will just be totally honest and say that we had already met up a couple of times and had needed to reschedule our session due to rainy, windy, plain old yucky weather.  But Friday was perfect.  It was her day.  All hers.

I just love my job. What a blessing it is to spend time with such wonderful people.  To start off with her Mom suggested this GREAT location, brought pineapple for us to munch on and even brought back her Grandpa to say hello before we finished up.  Does it get much better? Love it. Such a great sense of family, nourishment and the making of memories.  And Emma had loads of outfit ideas and lots of personality to share throughout the day.  Have a look at just some of  her day:

I couldn’t resist the light here….isn’t she beautiful?

I have a huge weakness for cool doors, especially red ones!

She has blue eyes that can be seen from a mile away, SERIOUSLY.

Emma is also a Varsity Pom captain.  :)

Thanks a ton for stopping by everyone!  Hope you enjoyed it.   Stay tuned for some new posts! I have an upcoming child session and workshop info to post soon.

11th Annual Vietnam Veterans Golf Outing (Michigan Event Photography)

May 18, 2010 · Events, My Life

On Saturday my father, David Alder, held a fabulous golf outing at Moose Ridge Golf in SE Michigan.  All proceeds from the outing will be donated to the Michigan Vietnam Veterans Monument Fund.  This is a monument which honors the  fallen Veterans of Michigan.  Every year we have a great turn out and a fantastic time!  My job is to help coordinate, set up and photograph (of course)  the teams throughout the day.

This year we were especiallly thankful for the largest number of  participants we have ever had, no rain, terrific support from the staff at Moose Ridge, lots of amazing sponsors + donations and an incredible dinner put on by Chef Paul and Jessica.  Yummy- best food I eat all year!!!

Pictured:  Matt (Moose Ridge Manager) and David Alder (head of Vietnam Veterans Monument Fund Golf  Outing) prior to the start of the event.

I just wanted to thank all of you who came out and can’t wait to see you all again next time. :)

Beauty times two: Senior Reps! (Northville, Senior Portrait Photographer)

May 13, 2010 · Senior Portraits & Models, Special Promotions

I would like to introduce two of my AMAZING Senior Reps this year!   Christina and Claire are twin sisters at North Farmington who are an absolute delight to spend time with. They are top notch students, well rounded, positive ladies.  Lucky me, huh?  Oh, and did I mention how beautiful they are?

Christina loves nature….

Love this, what a beauty she is!

this one was done for her as a special request….   inspired by an image of mine she had seen on my web site, but unqiuely her own.

And she has a  wee bit of love for the urban stuff, too…. but just a little.  ;)

I think her sister likes it a little more…

Claire, enjoys the artsy, urban sorta edgy appeal that concrete alley walls, the character of old weathered wood doors and even the mood that rusted backdrops have to offer.  What a FUN pair of girls to work with.

She was loving this old rusty spot with a leather chair I brought along…. this spot was planned out just for her ;)

Soooo pretty….

The colorful porches and doors at a local Historic Village also caught her eye.

Oh, and did I mention they are captains of the Varsity Pom Team?  Yep, not even kidding….

Please contact Christina or Claire for more information on getting fun, custom, unique Senior Portraits if you are in the Farmington (or surrounding) area!   And, although she is not posted here, you may also contact Emma S., who is also a rep of mine and will be featured next.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Workshop- Day 2, Part II. (Michigan Photography Workshop)

May 11, 2010 · Boudoir, Lessons & Workshops, Senior Portraits & Models

Time to finish up the workshop blog posts.  Whew- these are a lot of work, lol.  With this post, I have edited and shared over 100 images from my workshop.  That may sound like quite a bit (and it IS) but… with a group of eleven models and a team of 9 stylists…. the individual shots, group shots, couple shots,  make-up shots, hair shots, wardrobe shots and a dozen different “looks”  start to add up fast.  I really had a wonderful time working with everyone at my Fashion in Nature workshop and am pretty eager about possibly doing more of them in the future.

Requests have been coming to me via emails and on Facebook and it is difficult to pass up such great opportunities.  My time is sort of limited due to client sessions; however, I am going to try and fit in  more  workshops this year.  Yay! Fun :)   It is possible that I may be traveling to the Dallas and Chicago areas in the near future (July -Sept)  for upcoming 1 day workshops.  I am also in the process of putting another one together for mid-summer here in SE Michigan as well.  More info will follow during the next few weeks.  If you would like to be put on the list for any of these cities, please send me a note at jenlynnalder@aol.com or on Facebook.  Space is limited.

Let me just start by saying that day 2 of  my workshop was a little bit steamy.  I had a request to incorporate classy Boudoir elements into this workshop… but I wanted to put a fun twist on it so I decided to have the images taken outdoors (in nature). It was a lot of fun and we were all thankful that the dry weather held up.  There are three models pictured below:  Lauren, Becky and Amy.  Amy is modeling swimwear because she will not be 18 for a few more months and I did not feel it was appropriate for her to model the lingerie stuff yet.  They all did an amazing job and were fabulous to work with.  Big thanks goes out to the hair and make-up team, too!  Chelsey, Sheila, Amy, Kim and Alison you all do FABULOUS work.  We also did a very quick, and informal fitness session with the couple pictured yesterday (Kelsey and Mike).   I tossed a handful of shots from our time together at the end of this post.  :)

The lovely Lauren:

This fallen tree was pretty high up and surrounded by prickers/thorn bushes.  Thank goodness we had Kevin there to help the models up.

I like both of these…. beautiful, huh?

I loved the vine area… and thanks to the crew for humoring me, it was quite a hike to find them!!

The next model to be featured is Becky Kay. She is absolutely beautiful, full of spunk and lots of  fun. Have a look:

She has such a great smile and laugh…

Fun with the vines again….

Amy really does an incredible job modeling- she does make-up and dabbles with photography, too!  She did two looks….

Isn’t she fabulous?

WE LOVED the dandies…. and she was such a great sport about it.  :)

And here are a handful of shots from our quick fitness shoot with Kelsey and Mike….

Oh, and  I just want to mention that the photographers at this workshop produced some AMAZING images.  You may want to check out their sites or facebook pages for additional images:  Kevin Jones, Tressie Davis, Aimee Eisaman,  Renee Bynum and  LiVa Photography.   Some of them have already started adding the images to their web sites and blogs… but remember that the workshop gave us TONS of photo taking opportunities and the post processing takes a great deal of time.

Thanks a ton for stopping by today !!!   Stay tuned for some awesome upcoming Senior Portrait Sessions …..  you won’t want to miss them.  Also, if you are a female looking to book a creative, outdoor boudoir shoot like the ones shown above, send me a note to book one today!
