Month: April, 2010
I met up with these two beautiful sisters for a portrait session yesterday afternoon. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and both of these girls were smiling from ear to ear…the whole time. Seriously. What wonderful ladies to photograph! We met at a local park so that we could take advantage of the gorgeous Spring color out there. Nature backgrounds are amongst my most favorite to shoot because they just seem to set such a refreshing mood. Emma and Lindsey have a special sisterly bond and it shows! They make one another laugh, smile and are so at ease together. I am the oldest of a 3 sister family…. so I recognize a good sisterly bond when I see one. Have a look at what we were up to:
Mom wants one of her two girls together to hang on her wall at home. Which one do you think she will pick???

There was a beautiful breeze on this chilly day and lots of reddish pink color decorating the trees….

This one was actually the last photo of the day… and I made them walk all the way back into the field to take it…after I promised them they were done. Hahaha!! I love how they look at each other…. so cute!

Lindsey is the college student… in town visiting her family. I was originally only supposed to take images of them together… but… I just could not resist grabbing a few of them individually as well. Look at her gorgeous smile and amazing brown eyes… and those cute dimples!!! Lots of beauty in this family for sure.

And Emma has about 6 weeks left until she is officially on to her Senior Year…. I love those adorable freckles of hers and do I even need to say how stunning those sapphire eyes are??? whoa!!! gorgeous.

A fun composition for something different here. Check out that eye of hers….

And I got a little bit artsy with this one….. as they move forward with their journeys in life they always have one another.

Thank you, ladies!!! I had lots of fun with you two and am looking forward to taking Emma’s Senior Portraits in a couple of weeks. She is one of my reps for Farmington! Yay!!! I am off to work with a couple more Seniors now! Have a wonderful day all.
Hi everyone! I just wanted to take a few minutes to update my Blog with a fun, creative photography image that I created this week. Besides working with brides, high school Seniors, models and kiddos… I also create art whenever I can find time. My goal with this image was to create a story that had a bit of humor. Although his face is concealed, my nephew Johnny posed for me as “el bandito” (the bandit).
I hope to be starting a personal art project or two very soon. If you are a photographer who is looking for some creative inspiration and/or post processing tips take a look at my Online Lessons or Workshop area on this Blog. Limited availability still exists for May and June!
This week is an exciting and event filled one for me! I will be working with a beautiful set of sisters and my Senior Rep twins. Then, on Friday, I will be hosting my first ever Mini-workshop/Mentorship with an amazing cast of models and stylists…and a handful of fun photographers will be attending. SO exciting!! Stay tuned for upcoming posts.
Oh… and if you are a local Mom or Dad… see the post below! There is only a couple of days left to enter the portrait give-a-way session.

Spring is in the air…. I think? The weather here in SE Michigan has been warm and sunny (for the most part) but it was a cool 45 degree + windy day when Laurenda and I worked together. You would have never even known it- she was such a trooper. Laurenda is a model/actress from the Grand Rapids area who got in touch with me to add new images to her current portfolio. It also gave me an opportunity to practice with my new 70-200mm lens. At the end of this month, I am holding a workshop with a Fashion in Nature theme and wanted to experiment a little bit with the local park areas and the current color pallette out there. It was a fun afternoon!
Have a look at what we were up to:

I love the soft yellow greens of Spring and decided to add a little brown colour to give this a bit of a vintage feel…

We were at a State Park that has some great wood fences, walls and barns…

Ok, so I’m kinda known for doing a shot like this on every shoot. hehe… she is such a good sport.

Isn’t she beautiful??? I tried to include a good variety of images for her… so not all of them are bright and pastel like.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! I hope you enjoyed the images.
Hi everyone!
Wow- this has really been a crazy, busy, fun, and event filled month so far! OK, not all of the events are fun… I admit it. My computer (only 2 years old) officially died and I am on the hunt for a new one. So, I have been backing up files, trying to get orders out, etc… bear with me, please! One of the things I am sooooo thankful for is that I have the coolest clients ever. I have rescheduled sessions and am officially not shooting until the weekend so I can get all of this “computer stuff” figured out.
Next on my list of “crazy” this month is that my first ever “mini” workshop is approaching quickly. I am very excited to have a handful of wonderful photographers joining me… with a group of amazing models/stylists. It will be 2 days long and held at a lovely nature setting at the end of this month. How could we not have fun!!??!
And, because you all like to see these (at least, I think you do?)… here are some completed lesson images from my current group of online lesson takers. Its really great to see so much talent out of these photographers- learning new things and taking risks. Some of the below photographers are on their first lesson- some are just about done with a 9-pack, totally done and others are in the middle somewhere. I can honestly say it is a very enjoyable experience to watch them grow and I love that they each have their own style. Keep in mind that all photographers are using different equipment, software and most definitely have different experience levels. The lesson topic and photographer are listed above the image and do link to work of the particular photographer. They are currently working on additional lessons as well- so stay tuned, I may post more in the future. Oh, and of course, please respect copyright laws- thanks a bunch!

Stay tuned…. I am sure to share some images from a modeling shoot this weekend and have a few awesome Senior Sessions in the works as well. AND… Yep, a CONTEST is coming up, too!
