My photography services are much different than a typical "studio" experience; in fact, I don't work in a typical studio at all. To start with, I meet my clients at fun outdoor locations, help with wardrobe and styling ideas, and then spend hours "working my magic" by retouching each image with the latest computer editing software. These images are works of art that last a lifetime. Hi Everyone! I am stopping in again this month to say Helloooooooooooooooo and to show you some of what I have been up to lately. This month has been filled with student lessons, self study and workshop preparation- along with a few fabulous clients. SO busy and SO much fun. But, every once in awhile, I like to make time for new things. Silhouette photography is something that I have done in the past but never really gave any thought or dedicated study to. I decided to research a little bit and see how they were supposed to “properly” be done. I was not completely prepared for a shoot but the sun was going down a few evenings ago… and my nephew + fiance were sorta near….. and one thing lead to another. They agreed to give me FIVE TO TEN minutes of their time. OK? LOL. Can you believe I, a photographer, am surrounded by people who love to do anything but get their photo taken? ha! Anyhow, the few minutes gave me inspiration and a little practice. Thanks boys- love you! Check out a few images from our short period of time together:
And this image was enhanced with texture and an image of another cloudy sky… it was “quick art.” I really enjoy silhouettes and have a couple of models lined up for next month to show you some of my “real” ideas. Stay tuned. I promise they will be worth your while. Oh, and, if you are an upcoming client…. feel free to suggest this option. I WOULD LOVE to shoot some silhouettes of your family. They are so much fun and result in such beautiful works of art. See?
OR, If you love the sunset but don’t care for silhouettes…. you could always have me take an image like the one shown below- taken on a different day, same hour. I absolutely love the mood in this sort of photography. 
Next up on my list of Summer Stuff is my niece, Melanie. Yep, a muse of mine, of course. She is a busy girl but I was fortunate enough to get a visit last week. Here are a few quick snaps- it’s hard to believe she is ten years old already! whoa! And, what I am very excited about is that she will be participating in my next workshop… as a child model…for the first time ever. YAY!!! Its on August 15th right here in SE Michigan. Hi everyone! Summer is such a great time of year but it sure is easy to skip a blog post or two, lol. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgot you I’ve just been super busy lately. I will be posting client sneak peeks towards the end of the month. Honsetly, I have been blessed with amazing clients and terrific opportunities this year. Some wonderful changes have been made around here and I wanted to take a moment and share the news!
1. Creative Minds Workshops: These are a new addition this year. So far I have had the following topics: 50′s Fashion, Creative Boudoir and Fantasy. To view sample images, please visit my Lesson and Workshop web site They include a team of models and stylists and are capped at a small number so that everyone who attends get plenty of in the field practice. My degree is in the Arts and Education (and politics), so the decision to add edcuational workshops for photographers was an easy decision….and something I am very excited about. They’re affordable, too! Currently, I have three workshops open for registration. Two are in SE Michigan and one is in Dallas, TX. Cost is $450 per person, which includes lunch and all fees. The workshops are great for beginning photographers as well as business owners. We focus little on technical info and more on creative vision / communication to acheive sucessful images. The models who attend are age 17-25- (perfect to use in Senior Portrait Galleries or to attract young brides.) In addition, the workshops have a male/female couple (great for engagement photographers) and children (family photographers). The styling teams help us create an ideal image- giving your final products an artistic edge (all photographers) and will most definitely enhance your current portfolio.
* I have decided to offer a special STARTING NOW through 11:59 pm EST on JULY 26th (my b-day) for my SE Michigan workshops/mentorships. 2. Brand new- MINI SESSIONS are now available. For a fraction of the cost, clients can now book 30 minute sessions that include a dozen retouched images on DVD for only $350. Availability is limited… but these are ideal for parents who want frequently updated images of their children, anyone who needs a current head shot or digital files to put on their business web site, or folks who love custom photography but are on a budget. Take advantage of this new option! Call or send a note to book your date today.
3. Digital Portrait Packages are now available. I still offer full service photography printing for customers who prefer it; however, with the exception of wedding albums and Senior Portraits, I am now a full digital photographer. Clients will now receive all slide show images burned to a DVD included in their session price. No more sitting fees or minimum purchase requirements.
4. Class of 2011, Seniors- contact me for some FABULOUS deals and sessions that are fun, fun, fun!
5. Ladies….. if you have been wanting to get your Boudoir pictures remember that Summer is coming to an end. Be sure to schedule soon if you want to show off your great bikini body/tan. I can still fit you in.
6. Online Photography Lessons- Yep! I am still giving them. You can take lessons on editing or any photography related topic (custom request) at any skill level from the comfort of your own home via email. They are one-on-one. Limited spots available for Aug/Sept. Contact me if you want to enroll.

Many of you know that I accept a limited amount of photographers each month for online lessons. These lessons are open to all photographers- ranging from beginners to business owners. Lesson topics are custom created for the individual and every lesson is one-on-one. If you are interested in taking your images to the next level, send me a note! It has been quite awhile since I have blogged about some of my current lesson takers. Over the past couple of months I have worked with Lisa G Photography, Sandy Hawkins, Renee Bynum, Kevin Jones, Tish Donnelley and just about to start with Lori Ann. What FUN this work is. I love helping photographers of different levels reach their goals.. whether its how to work their camera, how to edit an image, or tips on how to win a contest… I am eager to offer what I know. Have a look at just SOME of the photographers completed lesson work below. They range from close up portrait retouching, texture application, eyes and expression, high key, etc… Please do not copy, copyright belongs per the respected artists.
And sometimes in a lesson, I will use my own images and simply have the photographer follow editing steps to transform the image. This is helpful to those just starting out or at times when fresh faces/ high quality images are difficult to obtain. I have an image bank with tons and tons of images and am more than happy to provide them for use in a lesson. Here is a before and after sample that one student is presently working on:

Also, I did a Fantasy Workshop here in SE Michigan that was filled with amazing talent and was sooooo fun but I shared only a few images from it on my Blog. To be honest, I think I shared 100+ images with the 50′s fashion workshop and it made my Blog load VERY slow. I did not want this to happen again and so decided against posting tons and tons of Fantasy images on here. LOL!!! There are tons of images in there and more are being added shortly.
Finally, I will be announcing my next workshop on Monday! It will be in SE Michigan, mid August, with models and a couple of KIDS. Yay! If you would like to register early, send me a note!
